1950's

Became the first to successfully grow chrysanthemums year-round using the groundbreaking method of artificial lighting and black cloth to control the plants' growth cycle. This ensured continuous availability throughout the year.

1964

The company took a different direction under new ownership when Gus's son, Carl, acquired the business and changed its name to Carl Dreisbach, Inc. Two acres of "razorback" greenhouses were built at the Louisville range, followed by an additional acre of greenhouses in Simpsonville, Kentucky. Carl focused on cultivating roses, standard mums, pomps and flowering holiday crops for the cut flower market.

1970

Dreisbachs added an acre of glass greenhouses at the Simpsonville range for cut flower production making Carl Dreisbach, Inc. one of the world's largest chrysanthemum growers.

1972

A wholesale florist was established as part of the company's growth. In honor of Carl's mother, the O'Malley building was built in Louisville to house the wholesale division.
